Åse Michaelsen (born June 4, 1960 in Mandal ) is a Norwegian politician of the Progressive Party (FrP). Between 2005 and 2017 she was a member of parliament in Storting . From January 2018 to May 2019, she was Minister for Seniors and Public Health .

Life

Michaelsen worked in an architectural office in Datteln from 1981 to 1982 . From 1984 to 1990 she worked for Scandinavian Airlines (SAS) in Düsseldorf , until 2000 in Kristiansand and from 2000 at Oslo-Gardermoen Airport .

Between 1995 and 2011 Michaelsen was a member of Mandal's local parliament. Between 1998 and 2005 she was part of the party executive committee of the FrP. In the 2005 parliamentary elections , she entered the Norwegian national parliament in Storting for the first time . There she represented the then Vest-Agder Province and was re-elected in both 2009 and 2013. In the 2017 election, she did not run again for a seat in Storting. Michaelsen was a member of the parliamentary committee of the FrP from 2005 to 2009 and again from 2013 to 2017.

On January 17, 2018, Michaelsen was appointed Minister for Seniors and Public Health. This office had previously been newly created and was located in the Helse og omsorgsdepartementet next to the office of the Minister of Health . On May 3, 2019, she handed over her post to her party colleague Sylvi Listhaug , who was to return to the government as a member of the party executive .
