Iselin Nybø (born May 14, 1981 in Randaberg ) is a Norwegian politician of the social liberal party Venstre . From January 2018 to January 2020 she was Minister for Research and Higher Education in the Solberg government , and since January 2020 she has been the Minister for Economic Affairs in her country.

Life

Nybø studied law at the University of Bergen from 2000 to 2006 and then worked in various positions as a lawyer and attorney. Between 2003 and 2007 she was a member of the local parliament of Randaberg . From 2007 to 2015 she was a member of the Stavanger City Council . From 2012 to 2014 she was part of the Venstre party executive.

Nybø moved into first place on Rogaland's party list in the Norwegian parliament in 2013. In the 2017 parliamentary elections , although she was again the top candidate in her province, she did not succeed in gaining another seat.

In January 2018 she was appointed Minister for Research and Higher Education. This ministerial post is located alongside the Minister of Science in the Norwegian Ministry of Science. After the Fremskrittspartiet (FrP) left the government and the associated cabinet restructuring, she became the new Minister for Economic Affairs on January 24, 2020.
