When the FrP joined the Solberg government, which was formed in October 2013, he did not want to take on a ministerial office. Before that he was part of the FrP delegation that took part in the government negotiations. He also stated that he would retire as deputy party chairman in 2014, which he ultimately did not do and was re-elected. resignation

On August 13, 2018, he resigned from his position as Minister of Fisheries after ignoring security regulations for members of the government during a visit to Iran. Specifically, it was about the use of a private, non-tap-proof mobile phone. There was also the suspicion that as a minister he had given his partner, Iranian-born Bahareh Letnes, business advantages. He also resigned from the deputy party chairmanship on August 13, 2018.

In October 2018, Per Sandberg and Bahareh Letnes published the joint book “Fremmede makter har flyttet inn. Justismord og politisk drap ”, in large parts a description of Sandberg's fall and a political defense.

In February 2020, he reported that he had not found a new job since retiring and that he wanted to open a bar in Halden with his partner Bahareh Letnes . He worked on the Norwegian reality series Farms , which was filmed for TV 2 from May 2019 .

Positions

As a party spokesman for infrastructure, he advocated the extensive expansion of the road network with income from the oil business. He firmly rejects the financing of the transport infrastructure through tolls .

Per Sandberg is one of the critics of Norwegian immigration policy. In his opinion, the authorities let too many people immigrate from outside the Schengen area . 70 to 75 percent of asylum applications in Norway would be "unfounded". He suggested that asylum seekers be monitored electronically so that their whereabouts could be continuously determined.
