Olaug Bollestad (2014)

Olaug Vervik Bollestad (born November 4, 1961 in Strand , Rogaland ) is a Norwegian politician of the Christian Democratic Kristelig Folkeparti (KrF). She has been the agriculture and food minister of her country since January 2019.

Life

Bollestad is a trained nurse and she worked as such at the University Hospital in Stavanger until 2007 . In 2003 she moved into the municipal council of Gjesdal , from 2007 to 2013 she was the town's mayor. Between 2007 and 2013 she also sat in the Fylkesting of Rogaland . From 2008 to 2014 she was chairwoman of the KrF in Rogaland.

In the parliamentary elections in 2013 , she entered the Norwegian parliament, the Storting , for the first time for the constituency of Rogaland . There she was a member of the parliamentary committee of her party until January 2019. In 2015 she was elected the second deputy party leader of the KrF, and in 2017 she became the first deputy. From October 2017 to January 2019, Bollestad headed the Storting's health committee. After Knut Arild Hareide retired from the position of party chairman in January 2019, Olaug Bollestad became a temporary party chairman. At the same time as Hareide's withdrawal, her party joined the Solberg government and Bollestad was appointed the new Minister for Agriculture and Food on January 22, 2019. Her mandate in Storting was therefore taken over by her party colleague Geir Sigbjørn Toskedal . At the party conference at the end of April 2019, Olaug Bollestad was re-elected as deputy chairman.
