Unicorn Store is the directorial debut of Brie Larson , who also played the lead role. The film premiered at the 2017 Toronto International Film Festival and has been available on Netflix in several countries since April 5, 2019 .

Kit wanted to be a painter. But she flies from university and starts working for a temporary employment agency . She gets several cards from The Store . There she meets the seller who wants to sell her a unicorn . Kit is interested. To get a unicorn, Kit needs to build a stable. She also buys hay and colors it. Since the unicorn needs a loving environment, Kit tries to reconcile with her parents. But when the parents find out that Kit wants a unicorn, an open argument breaks out. She wants to impress as a temporary worker and is fired because of her presentation. When Kit tries to go to The Store with Virgil , the store has disappeared. So the two of them also quarrel. When Virgil is left alone, he finds a couple of straws of hay on the ground. Kit reconciles with her mother and tries to reach Virgil again. One morning she finds him completing the stable. The seller calls Kit and tells her to pick up her unicorn. After meeting the unicorn, Kit is ready to leave the unicorn to a woman who needs it more urgently. She leaves the shop hand in hand with Virgil.
