Joan Mary Cusack (born October 11, 1962 in New York City ) is an American actress and screenwriter .

life and career

Joan Cusack's father Richard Cusack , as well as her siblings Ann , Bill, John and Susie , were or are also actors. Especially with her brother John, Joan can often be seen in films, such as A Man - A Murder or High Fidelity .

Cusack's repertoire of roles includes both sensitive, shrill, funny and vicious characters. She appeared on the television show Saturday Night Live in 1985 . She then played in numerous comedies such as Toys - Tödliches Spielzeug (1992, alongside Robin Williams and Michael Gambon ) or Nine Months (1995, alongside Hugh Grant and Julianne Moore ) and was also known for her good dubbing voice in many films. She won the American Comedy Award and was nominated for an Oscar for her role in the film The Guns of Women (1988), in which she starred alongside Harrison Ford , Sigourney Weaver and Melanie Griffith . She received another Oscar nomination for In & Out (1997), which also earned her a Golden Globe nomination and for which she won the American Comedy Award and the Golden Satellite Award.

Cusack has been married to Richard Burke, former CEO of Envoy Global Inc. (previously: VISANOW Global Immigration), since 1993 and has two sons with him.
