action

Morticia and Gomez Addams have a third child, puberty. Jealous older siblings Wednesday and Pugsley attempt to kill puberty by reenacting the French Revolution , but like all Addams, puberty is semi-immortal. Before long, Debbie Jellinsky is hired as a nanny to take care of puberty. However, Debbie is a serial killer who goes after wealthy bachelors in order to kill them after the wedding in an alleged accident. That is why she is also called the Black Widow , and the next victim is said to be Uncle Fester. Wednesday sees through Debbie's plans and is promptly - at Debbie's suggestion - sent by her parents along with Pugsley to the summer camp run by Gary Granger and his wife Becky.

Fester falls in love with Debbie and marries her. In Hawaii , Debbie tries to kill Fester by throwing a radio into the bathtub at him. However, this only leads to Fester - to make light - light up a lightbulb with his teeth. As a result, Debbie changes her tactics and forbids the rest of the family to have any contact with Fester. Gomez, Morticia and the rest try to make Debbie see her senses, but to no avail. Puberty feels most of all that something is wrong between Fester and Debbie and changes his appearance seriously as a result. Instead of the black hair, the pale face and the mustache, puberty now has blonde hair with red cheeks and no mustache. Gomez passed out instantly at the sight.

At the same time, Wednesday, Pugsley and the outsider Joel Glicker are about to attempt to escape from the camp. The attempt fails, however, because a spoiled brat named Amanda Buckman has teased her to the camp leaders. The children are tortured as a punishment by forcing them to watch classic Disney films. To avoid further punishment, Wednesday promises that she will be obedient in the future. For an amateur play about the First Thanksgiving , the successful, handsome girls and boys are chosen as pilgrims. The outsiders are supposed to represent the Indians, Wednesday Pocahontas and Pugsley the turkey they brought with them. At first the performance runs as if it has been practiced: In a performance riddled with racist clichés, the pilgrims welcome their “primitive friends”, the Indians. However, Wednesday gives an unscheduled speech in which she outlines the further fate of the Indians and announces punishments. Then the outsiders disguised as Indians attack the pilgrims and the watching parents. The setting of the pilgrimage village is set on fire, the parents are evicted and Gary and Becky are tied up and grilled over the campfire. Last but not least, Amanda is tied to the torture stake and set on fire by Wednesday. Wednesday and Pugsley flee, Joel stays behind to watch the rest burn down.

After Fester survived another attack for the third week of the wedding unharmed - the explosion of a bomb that Debbie had wrapped as a gift - Debbie shows him her real face and wants to shoot him. Ice-cold hands come to their rescue at the last moment, and they drive back to the Addams house. Fester, Wednesday, Pugsley and the little hand arrive home just in time to save Gomez - who was almost killed by the overall situation. Puberty also regains its old shape. The reunification will only last for a short time. Debbie forces the entire family, except for puberty, to sit on electric chairs to execute them. While she is showing the Addams a slide show of her crimes beforehand, Pubert is able to break free from its cradle. Just as Debbie flips the switch, Pubert joins it and diverts the direction of the current by holding two cable ends together. This pulverizes Debbie and saves the family.

Some time later, on Pubert's first birthday, cousin Itt is also present with his wife Magaret and their child Was (English What). Just as Fester thinks back to the times with Debbie, he is introduced to Was's new nanny, to whom he is immediately drawn. Joel Glicker, with whom Wednesday had befriended at camp, but who became too intrusive for her, is scared to death in front of Debbie's grave at the very end.

Reviews

The film received an overall positive reception from US critics and received better reviews than the first film. Rotten Tomatoes found a 78% positive review rate based on 45 reviews, with an average rating of 6.5 out of 10. Metacritic calculated 62 out of 100 points for the film on the basis of 20 reviews and thus "generally benevolent reviews".

The film also received positive reviews in German-language reviews. The magazine Cinema judged: " The funny-morbid, grandiose-filled fun even exceeds the first part ". The Catholic Film Service wrote: “ The rare case of a sequel that dwarfs its predecessor; the better thought-out storylines give rise to all sorts of malicious acts against the pseudo-idyll of the bourgeois family and American icons of all kinds. Impressive performance: Christina Ricci as the daughter of the house. "
