Carol Kane (* 18th June 1952 in Cleveland , Ohio as Carolyn Laurie Kane ) is an American actress and two-time Emmy winner .

Life

Kane grew up in New York City . She made her debut in the 1970 film Blood of the Iron Maiden , in which she took on one of the bigger roles. She starred in Desperate People (1971) alongside Shirley MacLaine and in The Art of Love (1971) alongside Jack Nicholson . In the film Wedding in White (1972) she played one of the leading roles alongside Donald Pleasence . For her leading role in the film Hester Street (1975) she was nominated for an Oscar . She played one of the bigger roles, alongside Woody Allen and Diane Keaton , in the film Der Stadtneurotiker (1977). From 1982 to 1983 she appeared in the television series Taxi , for which she won two Emmy Awards and was nominated once for a Golden Globe Award .

Kane got a bigger role in the comedy Jumpin 'Jack Flash (1986), in which she played alongside Whoopi Goldberg . In the 1988 comedy The Ghosts I Called , she appeared alongside Bill Murray as the present Christmas spirit.

Kane was also in the television series The Man of Dreams (1990-1991) and Pearl (1996-1997) to see. Since 2015 she can be seen in the role of landlady Lillian Kaushtupper in the Netflix series Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt .
