Bradbury's Chamber of Horrors

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Bradbury's Chamber of Horrors (Original title: The Ray Bradbury Theater ) is a US-American - Canadian - British - French - New Zealand science fiction - and fantasy - television series . From 1985 to 1992 a total of 65 episodes were produced in six seasons, the first six episodes of which were broadcast on HBO and the rest on USA Network . The idea for the series came from actor Larry Wilcox and his producer Mark Massari, who both also became producers of the series after proposing the project to Ray Bradbury in 1984 . The filming locations were in England, Canada, New Zealand and France.

content

All of the scripts in the series are written by Ray Bradbury. As an executive producer, he had been granted complete artistic freedom . Bradbury therefore used either his original short stories as a template or combined elements of various short stories of his own for the scripts . Each episode begins with an intro spoken by Bradbury himself:

People ask where do you get your ideas. Well right here. All this is my Martian landscape. Somewhere in this room is an African veldt. Just beyond perhaps is a small Illinois town where I grew up. And I'm surrounded on every side by my magicians toyshop. I'll never starve here. I just look around, find what I need, and begin. I'm Ray Bradbury, and this is "The Ray Bradbury Theater".

Charisma

The series was broadcast in Canada and the United States from 1985. The first three German episodes were dubbed by ARD in 1988 under the title Bradbury Trilogy and broadcast in the evening program. In 1991 and 1992, 45 more episodes were dubbed by Tele 5 and broadcast under the new series title Bradburys Horror Cabinet , apparently the three episodes of ARD were re-dubbed. As far as known so far, there has been no re-broadcast since then (2012).
