John Glover (born August 7, 1944 in Salisbury , Maryland ) is an American actor .

Life

Glover graduated from Towson State Teacher's College, Towson University , and later took acting classes at the Beverly Hills Playhouse. In 1995 he won the Tony Award for his role in the play Love! Valor! Compassion! , which was filmed in 1997. He also made a name for himself from 2001 through the role of Lionel Luthor in the television series Smallville . His longtime partner is the sculptor Adam Kurtzman.
