Shawn Robert Ashmore (born October 7, 1979 in Richmond , British Columbia ) is a Canadian film actor and producer .

Life

Ashmore received his education at Turner Fenton High School in Brampton . He made his film debut in 1989 in an episode of the television series Katts and Dog . Since then he has been in front of the film camera in many feature films and television series.

One of his most famous cinema appearances is that of the mutant Iceman in Bryan Singer's X-Men 2 alongside Patrick Stewart and Halle Berry , for which he received the MTV Movie Award . He also embodied this role in X-Men: Future is Past , but there he only took on a minor supporting role.

Both Shawn and his identical twin brother, Aaron Ashmore , could be seen together in front of the camera in My Brother's Keeper , a 2004 Canadian drama . They also played brothers in one episode of the FBI's Fringe series . It was the second time after the TV series Animorphs (1998).

Ashmore made his executive producer debut in 2005 when he not only produced Terry , but also starred in the film. In Terry , the life story of the amputated marathon runner Terry Fox was retold. From 2013 to 2015 he starred in The Following as FBI agent Mike Weston .
