Quantum Break is a third-person shooter released in April 2016 by the Finnish developer Remedy Entertainment . The title, originally announced exclusively for Xbox One , was also released for Windows at the same time and was considered the first major exclusive title of the Microsoft Store , which was introduced with Windows 10 and is based on the Universal Windows Platform .

action

The futuristic game puts the player in the role of Jack Joyce, who, through unsuccessful time experiments, gains special skills for manipulating time and tries to prevent his friend Paul Serene, CEO of Monarch Solutions, from plunging the earth into an end-time scenario. The narrative is supported by the integration of live action footage with well-known actors such as Shawn Ashmore , Aidan Gillen , Lance Reddick and Dominic Monaghan .

technology

The DirectX 12 version does not perform well , especially with Nvidia graphics cards. A Direct3D 11 version later appeared on Steam , which runs smoothly with NVIDIA GeForce cards and also supports Windows 7 . To save computing power, the game uses temporal anti-aliasing and scaling . The game calculates internally only two thirds of the set resolution , processes the image with multisample antialiasing and extrapolates the pixels. The result is fuzzy, but only a fraction of the power is required. The game engine used can calculate screen space reflections , dynamic lighting including real-time shadows and detailed particle effects .
