action

Three students - Joe, his best friend Dan and his girlfriend Parker - spend a ski weekend together that turns into a nightmare. Since Parker is still a beginner on snowboarding, however, they have only come down the slopes a few times. So they persuade the chair lift supervisor to make an exception and take her up the mountain one last time. Due to a misunderstanding between the chairlift attendants, the lift is switched off before the three of them can get out. First, the experienced skiers and snowboarders Joe and Dan hope that the lift has stopped due to the wind and will soon continue. However, when all the power and lighting on the runway are turned off, the three realize that they have either been pranked or forgotten. The lift should not be put into regular operation again until five days later, next weekend. A snowcat comes near the three, but turns away again.

A few hours later and after a heavy snowstorm, Dan decides to jump down and get help. On impact, however, he breaks both legs, which he can no longer feel a short time later. He is therefore unable to move. Joe tries to use the wire rope of the chairlift to shimmy to the next mast and climb down to help Dan. As he is about to start climbing, Dan is attacked by a pack of wolves and torn to pieces. A little later, Parker and Joe have a heated argument when Parker accuses Joe of failing to stop Dan from jumping. Joe accuses her that she would have preferred if he had jumped and that it was actually her fault that they were out so late. Shortly afterwards, however, the two get along again.

The next day, Joe and Parker share experiences from their lives. The two of them get more and more frostbite and Joe realizes that Dan did not die, so they both give up and die too. He therefore decides to climb towards the lift mast again. When climbing out of the chairlift, however, part of the bracket loosens and Parker's lift tilts - she doesn't know whether the bracket could loosen completely at any moment. Despite serious injuries to both hands, Joe actually manages to reach the mast and climb down the ladder. On the ground, however, wolves have gathered again and lie in wait for him. At first he succeeds in driving away a wolf with his ski pole. He then slides down the slope on a snowboard to get help for Parker. The wolves follow him.

Parker waits all night until the next morning, but no one comes to her aid. She realizes that something must have happened to Joe. In the end, completely frozen, she too tries to jump off the chairlift. As she prepares to take off, another part of the bracket comes loose and the armchair sinks several meters into the depth. The chair is only a few feet off the ground and Parker jumps off. She lands unharmed, but when the armchair finally loosens immediately afterwards and falls to the floor, he injures her foot. Since she cannot step on, she slips down the mountain. On the way she has to discover that Joe has also fallen victim to the wolves: She discovers the wolf pack that is currently eating the last remains of Joe's mangled body. One of the wolves stares at them for several seconds, but does not attack, but returns to the pack and continues to eat.

Arrived on a mountain road, Parker is found by a passing man and driven to a nearby hospital. Parker closes her eyes while driving and hears Dan's voice in her head saying to her again like at the beginning: "It will be all right, baby. It will be alright."

Reviews

“Not exactly the perfect film for the next skiing holiday. But a little, lousy thriller, which after a few initial difficulties turns the tension steadily upwards. "

“A gripping thriller that comes up with a believable scenario and uncompromisingly depicts a desperate struggle for survival that couldn't be more dramatic and disturbing. The authentic nightmare, created with minimal resources, dispenses with (computer) effects and becomes a consistently exciting, dismaying and not very squeamish chamber play in the open air. "
