Saul Rubinek (born July 2, 1948 in Wolfratshausen , Germany ) is a Canadian actor , director and film producer .

Life

Rubinek's parents were Holocaust survivors ; he was born in the Föhrenwald DP camp . His father Israel Rubinek was a member of the Yiddish Repertory Theater ensemble there . The family later moved to Canada .

Rubinek was a member of the Stratford Shakespearean Festival Company in Stratford from 1969 to 1970 . In 1979 he made his US debut at the Public Theater in New York City .

Rubinek became internationally known for films such as: Merciless (1992) directed by Clint Eastwood , I Love Trouble - Nothing but Trouble (1994) alongside Julia Roberts and Nick Nolte , Nixon alongside Anthony Hopkins . In the 1998 film Jerry & Tom - Killer Among Themselves, he worked as director, producer and actor; he was nominated for the Grand Jury Prize of the Sundance Film Festival . He also appeared in some television series such as Frasier . In the films mentioned below, Rubinek usually embodies dubious people and often gives these roles clearly cynical traits.

In the 68th episode of Starship Enterprise: The Next Century , he had a guest role as merchant Kivas Fajo. He played u. a. a former NSA agent in the hit American sci-fi series Warehouse 13 .

Rubinek was married to Elinor Reid until 2003 and has two children (* 1991 and 1995).
