action

Married secret agents Jane Blue and Jefferson Blue take their baby to New Orleans on vacation . There they are harassed by the unsuccessful killer Muerte , whom Jefferson mockingly addresses as Morty .

Soon the policeman Halsey becomes aware of the two, only after some time does he discover that they are secret agents. An informant is pressured by the couple by threatening him with torture; the baby's screams from the next room are presented to the man as the result of previous torture.

In a showdown, Jane and Jefferson fight against the Czech arms dealer Paulina Novacek, who escapes by helicopter. There she is arrested by the Czech security guards. Jane and Jefferson's task was to lure Novacek on board a Czech helicopter, where she could be arrested under national law on Czech territory.

In the final scene, Jane and Jefferson set off on a yacht tour; Halsey is shocked to find that the couple want to drive to Cuba .

Reviews

James Berardinelli said on ReelViews that the film was "silly" enough to deserve some credit. It often makes no sense, which is partly what makes it so attractive. Berardinelli praised the interplay of Kathleen Turner and Dennis Quaid as well as Stanley Tucci, who provided the sometimes "clumsy" and "senseless" plot with funny moments.

The lexicon of international films described the film as a "loud action comedy that sacrifices humor and punchlines to the tempo".

The magazine TV Spielfilm wrote that Herbert Ross had "used the pattern of the" Thin Man "film series from the 1930s for his comedy , where Myrna Loy and William Powell had " witty and witty verbal battles as married and detective couples " would have. "The actors hardly have a chance here" because the plot is "too thin" and the joke tends to reach the "lower ground floor". Stanley Tucci still looks funny.

The magazine prisma wrote that the film could have been “an upbeat action comedy”, but it turned out to be “completely exaggerated nonsense of the lowest category” with “bad script” and “only chargier” actors, in which the director “only craftsmanship ”show.

The German Film and Media Assessment FBW in Wiesbaden awarded the film the rating "valuable".
