Stanley Tucci
Stanley Tucci (born November 11, 1960 in Peekskill , New York ) is an American actor , film producer and director .
Life
Tucci is the son of Joan, a retired executive director and writer, and Stanley Tucci Senior, a former high school teacher. His sister Christine Tucci is also an actress. Tucci grew up in Katonah, New York, and attended John Jay High School.
The Italian-American usually plays roles in which he appears cynical or malicious. These include the roles of the unsuccessful killer Muerte in the film Undercover Blues - An Absolutely Cool Trio (1993), in which he played alongside Kathleen Turner and Dennis Quaid , as well as the roles of a killer in the film The Files (1993) with Julia Roberts . In the animated film Robots (2005) his voice was heard alongside those of Ewan McGregor , Robin Williams , Halle Berry and Mel Brooks .
As a film producer, Tucci took part in the award-winning film The Mudge Boy from 2003. He made his debut as a director in 1996 with the film Big Night . Two years later he directed the comedy film The Impostors - Zwei Hochstapler in Not , which he also produced himself. Another film was made in 2000 with Joe Gould's Secret , followed by Blind Date from 2008, in which he can also be seen as a performer. Tucci also worked as a screenwriter for his first two films. In 2017 he directed Final Portrait .
In 2009 Tucci starred in Peter Jackson's literary adaptation In My Heaven, based on the bestselling novel by Alice Sebold of the same name . The supporting role of a child killer earned him, among other things, nominations for the Oscar and Golden Globe Awards .
In 1995 he married Kate Tucci, with whom he has three children. His wife died in May 2009 of cancer . In October 2011, Stanley Tucci got engaged to Felicity Blunt, the older sister of actress Emily Blunt . The wedding took place in September 2012. Their son was born on January 25, 2015, and a daughter followed in June 2018.
Awards
In 2007 he was awarded an Emmy for his guest appearance on the series Monk . He had previously won this award for his role in the 1999 film Winchell . For this role he received his first Golden Globe in the same year . He received this award a second time for his portrayal of Adolf Eichmann in the television film The Wannsee Conference . In the course of his career he was honored with other film prizes, for example in 1999 a. a. a Golden Satellite Award . He was also nominated for an Oscar for Best Supporting Actor in 2009 for his role as George Harvey in In My Heaven .
