Reviews

Roger Ebert wrote in the Chicago Sun-Times on April 12, 1995 that he agreed with the comedian Pauly Shore that the characters he played were "offensive". But he doesn't agree with him that these are weird. The film is another attempt in the “do it stupid lottery” (“another entry in the national dumbing it down sweepstakes”). Jim Carrey is "virtuoso" compared to Shore.

Hal Hinson wrote in the Washington Post on April 13, 1995 that the title should be warning enough for viewers to stay away. The film is a collection of cheap gags.

The lexicon of international films wrote: "The film , intended as a judicial comedy, is exhausted in a series of infantile gags, slapstick and slippery jokes, whereby the idiotic leading actor gets on the nerves all too quickly."

Awards

Pauly Shore received the Golden Raspberry for Worst Actor in 1996 .
