Richard Edson

Richard Edson (born January 1, 1954 in New Rochelle , New York , USA ) is an American actor and musician .

Life

Edson was born in New Rochelle, New York. From 1981 to 1982 he was the drummer of the band Sonic Youth in the original line-up and in the same period in the band Konk . After Sonic Youth made their debut with their EP of the same name , he left the band to continue playing full-time with the Konk's . Richard also played horn and trumpet for the band The Offs from San Francisco , where he appeared on their 1984 album The First Record offs can be heard. In 1984 he ended his music career to begin an acting career.

Edson made his film debut in the role of Eddie in Jim Jarmusch 's film Stranger than Paradise from 1984. He was also known as an untrustworthy parking helper in the comedy Ferris makes blue , he took other notable roles in films such as Platoon (1986) , Good Morning, Vietnam (1987), and Do the Right Thing (1989). He made appearances in television series, including Pete & Pete and Homicide . In 2003 Edson was seen in the music video for the band Cave In's Anchor , where he plays the central character in the video, a depressed man walking the streets with his feet covered in blocks of cement.
