action

The American songwriter Larry travels to Mallorca where he is looking for inspiration. There he lives from playing the piano in a bar.

Larry gets to know the widow of a local composer and his life's work. He organizes a concert in honor of the composer. The works should be performed by a musician who demands a high fee.

Larry meets the composer's lover, Helena. One day he learns that he has an illegitimate daughter, Frankie, whom he meets. Larry's neighbor Sebastian tries to take control of the concert preparations, and he often argues with his brother Dickie. These disputes put the concert at risk.

Reviews

Leslie Felperin wrote in the journal Variety 25 May 2006, the talented cast, weak direction and the even weaker scenario would put together a "student exemplary" ( "sophomore" result) result. The film would quickly be forgotten ( "'Songs' looks destined to fade out faster than 'La Scala' which went straight-to-tube in Blighty" ).

Rotten Tomatoes editors mentioned the involvement of such "British comedic talent" as Hugh Bonneville, Rhys Ifans and Jessica Stevenson.
