Jessica Hynes (* the thirtieth October 1972 in Lewisham , London as Jessica Stevenson ) is a British actress and screenwriter .

Life and accomplishments

Hynes grew up in Brighton . She began working at the National Youth Theater as a teenager . When she came of age she moved to London, where she appeared in a number of plays. She got her first film role at the side of Robert Sean Leonard and Christian Bale in the music drama Swing Kids from 1993.

In 1996, Hynes starred in the television series Asylum , for which she also co-wrote the script. From 1999 to 2001 she starred alongside Simon Pegg in a leading role in the television series Spaced ; she also wrote the script together with Pegg. As an actress, she received the British Comedy Award in 1999 and 2001 . Together with Pegg, Edgar Wright and Nira Park, she was nominated for the BAFTA TV Award in 2002. Her leading role in the comedy Tomorrow La Scala! (2002) earned her another nomination for the BAFTA TV Award and a nomination for the RTS Television Award from the Royal Television Society in 2003 . In the film drama A Song to Love (2007) she played in a larger role alongside Stanley Tucci , Rhys Ifans , Hugh Bonneville and Jena Malone . Hynes wrote the script for the television comedy Learners (2007), in which she appeared in a leading role. In 2010 she starred alongside Pegg in Burke & Hare by John Landis .

Hynes played a supporting role in The Night Heron on display at the Royal Court Theater in 2002 . For this role she was nominated for the 2003 Laurence Olivier Award .

Hynes has been married since 2002 and has three children. In 2007, she took her husband's last name, Adam Hynes.
