David Louis Newman (born March 11, 1954 in Los Angeles , California ) is an American composer and one of the leading conductors in Hollywood, who mainly writes film music .

Live and act

He is the son of the legendary film composer Alfred Newman , brother of Thomas Newman , nephew of Emil Newman and cousin of Randy Newman . All three are also active as composers. He is also the brother of the composer Maria Newman (* 1962) and nephew of the conductor Lionel Newman . He started playing and conducting the violin at an early age . He studied at the University of Southern California , where he graduated as a conductor .

He received an Oscar nomination for the score for the cartoon " Anastasia ". He has mainly written for films by Danny DeVito (" Matilda "), Brian Levant ("The Flintstones") and Stephen Herek ("The Mighty Ducks").

In addition to leading numerous film scores, he also conducted several times at the Hollywood music gala in Vienna .

He is married to Krystina Newman; you have a child.
