Let's do it like Cowboys (Alternative title: Sexy Cowboys shoot sharper ; Original title: The Cowboy Way ) is an American action comedy from 1994. Directed by Gregg Champion and written by William D. Wittliff .

action

The two cowboys friends Pepper and Sonny work in their home country New Mexico and are also enthusiastic rodeo riders . When the womanizer Pepper does not appear for a very important tournament, the friendship with Sonny is badly strained. Ultimately, Nacho , Sonny's friend and cook, takes on the role of mediator, although he is not too successful. A few days later, Sonny finally turns to Pepper: Nacho left for New York on an urgent family matter, but has since disappeared. Since Sonny hardly has any money, he is now hoping for Pepper's support, which he will also get.

The two cowboys set off for the east coast, but initially hit everyone with their rural understanding of big city life. Especially daredevil Pepper often has to be slowed down by Sonny. Ultimately, the sincere policeman Sam is at their side, who helps them with the search. But the result is sobering: Nacho was murdered.

With the help of Sam, Sonny and Pepper continue to research and slowly get to the bottom of things. Nacho traveled to New York after receiving a call days earlier. In it he was informed that his daughter Teresa had managed to escape from Cuba , but that he still had to pay a sum of money. With the help of their rather unorthodox prairie methods , the cowboys manage to elicit the necessary information from various small crooks. The trio eventually find Teresa in a secret factory run by the gangster John Stark , who lets a large number of refugees work like slaves here. Obviously Nacho tried to expose this and was silenced for it.

The trio finally succeeds in blowing up the company and arresting a large part of the gangster organization. However, Stark flees with Teresa as a hostage. This is followed by a big chase across the city, with Sonny and Pepper doing it on two police horses. At an above-ground subway station , they can finally confront Stark and free Teresa. Stark is overwhelmed and dies when he is lassoed to death by a train.

The two friends are reunited, welcome Teresa to the USA and - after Pepper has got a well-paid model job - can start the journey home.

Reviews

James Berardinelli wrote on ReelViews that the film was not worth the effort to mount a horse. It is not much different from the "mistake" Beverly Hills Cop III . Berardinelli criticized the in his opinion little elaborated characters and the work of the main actors, especially that of Woody Harrelson, who hardly acts.

The lexicon of international films wrote: "A briskly staged action comedy that, despite some coarseness from the friction between the fallen friends and the clash of urban and rural types and behaviors, sparkles some comedic sparks."
