Lee Tamahori

Lee Tamahori (born June 17, 1950 in Wellington ) is a New Zealand film director .

Tamahori made his cinema debut in 1994 with The Last Warrior , which was then New Zealand's most successful film. His best-known films include the James Bond film Die Another Day (2002) and xXx 2 - The Next Level (2005). Tamahori's work Next was released in 2007 (with Nicolas Cage in the lead role). It is a film adaptation of a short story by Philip K. Dick called The Golden Man .

In January 2006, Tamahori was arrested for offering money for sexual favors to a male hustler who turned out to be an undercover cop in Los Angeles . Tamahori was dressed as a drag queen at the time . The charges were dropped before the trial. Tamahori, whose lawyer was celebrity attorney Mark Geragos , agreed to a three-year suspended sentence , 15 days of community service, and a $ 390 fine .

At the Berlinale 2011 Tamahori presented The Devil's Double , a film about Udai Hussein , son and double of Saddam Hussein , with Dominic Cooper in the double role. His first art house project Mahana ran out of competition in the 2016 Berlinale competition.
