Jean Stapleton , real name Jeanne Murray (born January 19, 1923 in New York City , † May 31, 2013 ibid), was an American actress .

Act

Stapleton began her career in show business in the 1950s and 1960s as a Broadway actress, and during the same time she played smaller guest roles in various television productions.

Stapleton was mainly for her role as Edith Bunker on the side of Carroll O'Connor in the 1970 years- sitcom All in the Family famous for her with three Emmys and two Golden Globes Award.

In 1986 she played the role of Ariadne Oliver on the side of Peter Ustinov as Hercule Poirot in the television crime thriller Murder with distributed roles by Agatha Christie . In her career she has appeared in around 90 film and television productions.

In 1957 she married William Putch, with whom she had two children. Putch died in 1983.
