Arthur Schmidt

Arthur Schmidt (* 17th June 1937 in Los Angeles , California as Arthur Robert Schmidt ) is an American film editor .

life and career

He is the son of Arthur P. Schmidt , also a renowned editor ( Boulevard der Dämmerung , Some Like It Hot ). Schmidt began his career in the early 1970s as an assistant editor for the western macho Callahan . His first well-known film was Jaws 2 (1978). He first came into contact with Steven Spielberg while working on Fandango (1985) . This has resulted in a long-term collaboration with Robert Zemeckis , for whom he has edited practically every film from Back to the Future (1985). For wrong play with Roger Rabbithe received his first Oscar as editor in 1988 ; In 1995 he received his second Oscar for Forrest Gump . In 2009 he was honored with the ACE Career Achievement Award .

His brother Ron is a Jesuit and a priest in Hollywood, his brother Greg works as a camera operator.
