Federal managing director in German parties

While in the CDU , SPD and FDP the federal managing directors, in the CSU the chief executives, heads of the administrative apparatus of the parties and general secretaries take over the political management of the office, with Bündnis 90 / Die Grünen and the Left, so-called political federal managing directors are in charge both instances responsible. Federal managing director in Austrian parties

In Austria, the separation of the political and organizational-managerial activities between General Secretary and Federal Managing Director at the FPÖ and BZÖ corresponds to the division between the German parties CDU, SPD and FDP. In the SPÖ and the Greens , the function referred to as federal manager encompasses both areas. Accordingly, neither party has a Secretary General. In the SPÖ, the federal managing directors were called central secretaries from the time the party was founded from 1945 to 1993. The corresponding function is actually General Secretary at the ÖVP , but since 2017 there has also been an ÖVP federal manager in Axel Melchior .
