Mr. Wrong - The dream becomes a nightmare man ( Mr. Wrong ) is an American comedy film from the year 1996 . Directed by Nick Castle , the screenplay is by Kerry Ehrin , Chris Matheson and Craig Munson .

The film opens with Martha Alston - incarcerated in a Mexican prison and addressed as Ms. Crawford - explaining to officers what made her commit murder on her wedding day. A flashback shows her sister's wedding, when Alston is pressured by her family to also marry. She later makes an appointment with her work colleague Walter, who disappoints her. After this date, she meets Whitman Crawford in a bar.
Alston and Crawford get closer; Martha introduces her boyfriend to her family, who are impressed. Afterwards, Alston meets Crawford's mother, who talks bad about the relationship. The man shows jealousy, he thinks his girlfriend is his property. Alston then wants to end the relationship.
Crawford's former girlfriend Inga Gunther does not believe in Alston's decision and harasses her. Alston is also stalked by Crawford. He kidnaps her to Mexico , where he forces her to marry him. Alston takes his gun and shoots him. Then she is arrested.
Walter comes to Mexico and explains to the authorities that Inga Gunther shot Crawford. The released Alston and Walter ride together towards the sunset.
Reviews
The lexicon of international films wrote that the film was "a refreshing comedy with hair-raising entanglements and a lot of situation comedy". It contains "lustfully ironized romantic clichés, funny camera perspectives, pointed dialogues and convincing main actors" that would make it "a pleasure".
Cinema magazine wrote that the black comedy was only "meant to be funny". The "famous Ellen DeGeneres" could "not iron out" the "constructed-looking script and the gags".
