Ruben Fleischer (born October 31, 1974 in Washington, DC , also Ruben Fleisher ) is an American writer, producer and director.

Life

Fleischer graduated from Wesleyan University in Middletown (Connecticut) with a degree in history before moving to California and coming into contact with the film industry. He worked as an assistant to Miguel Arteta . He produced and directed the short film The Girls Guitar Club (2001) and the documentary Gumball 3000: 6 Days in May (2005) and directed video clips for artists such as Gold Chains , DJ Format , Electric Six , Dizzee Rascal and MIA

He made his cinema debut in 2009 with the zombie comedy Zombieland , which won the Audience Award at the Sitges Festival Internacional de Cinema de Catalunya in 2009 . In 2019 came the sequel Zombieland: Double is Better in the cinemas, which he also directed. Other of his feature films are Gangster Squad (2013) with Sean Penn as gangster legend Mickey Cohen and the comic adaptation Venom (2018) with Tom Hardy .

The actor Lucas Fleischer is his brother.
