Zombieland: Two are better than one

Zombieland is a 2009 American comedy film directed by Ruben Fleischer ; Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick wrote the script. In the film stars Woody Harrelson , Jesse Eisenberg , Emma Stone and Abigail Breslin survivor of a zombie - apocalypse . In search of a refuge from the undead, they go on an extensive journey together, killing zombies in an imaginative way.

action

In America, a virus epidemic has turned much of the population into zombies. Through great caution, particularly by following his rules of survival, Columbus, suffering from anxiety, was one of the few to survive. While searching for his parents in Ohio, he meets the completely different Tallahassee, who has found his calling in killing zombies. Together, the unlikely pair of loser and daredevil continue their journey and fight against the zombies. On their way they meet the two sisters Wichita and Little Rock, by whom they are outwitted and robbed of their vehicle and their weapons. When they later meet them again, they ally themselves with them, which simplifies the fight against the zombies, but makes it difficult to live together in the group.

Together they want to go to the amusement park Pacific Playland, which is said to be free from zombies. In Hollywood they stop at Bill Murray's mansion , who holed up there and put on make-up as a zombie in order to remain undetected on excursions. When Bill Murray tries to play a prank on Columbus and Little Rock, who were previously unaware of his presence, he is shot by Columbus. Columbus and Wichita get closer in the evening because Wichita has strong fears of attachment, but the sisters suddenly leave the next morning and leave the two men behind once more.

The girls eventually arrive in Pacific Playland and put the amusement park back into operation. The lights attract the zombies in the area and the two are trapped there. Columbus travels after them, Tallahassee joins him. Together they save the two of them by clearing the amusement park of zombies. As a group, they are now moving through Zombie Land together.

Rules of survival

Columbus made different rules to survive in "Zombie Land". In a kind of running gag , these are a defining part of the film and beyond. While only ten of these rules are discussed in the film, others were communicated via advertising posters and in interviews. There are also other such rules of survival in the game app for the film.

The already planned cinema release date on November 13, 2009 in Austria was canceled at short notice by the distributor Sony Pictures despite advertising in the area. Cinema wrote: "Shiny actors and brilliant gags make this zombie film satire an extremely entertaining representative of its kind."

The lexicon of the international film judged: "The attempt at a zombie comedy fails because of a staging that, beyond the slaughter of the undead, shows neither a sense of humor nor suspense and whose characters develop little appeal despite prominent actors."

Awards

Movie

Screenwriters Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick were talking about a sequel for Zombieland that was to be shot in 3D. The script was completed in July 2011, but the "perfect story" for a sequel has not yet been found.

In January 2013, director Ruben Fleischer said he didn't believe in a sequel to Zombielands.

“I hate to say it, but there are no specific plans to do this film. There really is no script, so the likelihood of implementation is very low. But I would not give up hope completely yet. "

In 2014, Sony Pictures commissioned Dave Callaham to write the script for the sequel and Ruben Fleischer would direct again.

In May 2018, screenwriter Paul Wernick announced that the sequel to Zombieland could hit the cinemas on time for the original's ten-year birthday - in autumn 2019. In January, the original title Zombieland: Double Tap was announced. On November 7, 2019, Zombieland came: Double is better in German cinemas.

Television series

Furthermore, 20th Century Fox and Sony Pictures Television expressed the idea of producing a Zombieland television series alongside a sequel . Zombieland was originally planned as a pilot for a television series.

In early 2013, the production of a pilot film for a series adaptation was announced. In March 2013, online retailer Amazon commissioned a pilot episode written by the film's screenwriters Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick. In addition to Kirk Ward as Tallahassee, Tyler Ross , Maiara Walsh and Izabela Vidovic played the other leading roles. The pilot was streamed free of charge on April 19 via Amazon Instant Video and Prime Instant Video in the US and Lovefilm in the UK. An order for further episodes was made dependent on the success of the pilot episode.

With over 5,000 customer reviews, the pilot episode received an average of 3.7 out of 5 stars. In May 2013 it was announced that Amazon would not commission the series due to customer reactions. Rhett Reese justified this in a tweet with vehement rejection of the pilot episode on the part of the Zombieland fans.
