Amber Laura Heard (* 22. April 1986 in Austin , Texas ) is an American actress . She gained fame through the films All the Boys Love Mandy Lane (2006), The Fighters (2008) and Zombieland (2009).

Career

Amber Heard began her acting career with supporting roles in various television series. She starred as Liz in the pilot episode of Jack & Bobby (2004) and as Riley in an episode of The Mountain (2004). She also made a brief appearance as a saleswoman in OC, California (2005).

Her first film role was that of Maria in the sports film Friday Night Lights - Touchdown on Friday (2004). She then played the role of Shay in the horror film SideFX (2005), then she had supporting roles in Drop Dead Sexy (2005), Price to Pay (2006) and You Are Here (2007).

She was best known for the drama Cold Land (2005), in which she played the role of teenage Josey Aimes, portrayed as the adult woman of Charlize Theron , and as Alma in Nick Cassavete's Alpha Dog (2006). She played Purple in an episode of Criminal Minds in 2006 , and the title role in All the Boys Love Mandy Lane . The horror film, which premiered at the Toronto International Film Festival in September 2006, was only released in 2008. In 2007 Heard played the role of Greta Matthews in the television series Hidden Palms . Due to poor audience ratings , only eight instead of the planned twelve episodes were broadcast. In the same year she was also in the short film Day 73 with Sarah and in the independent drama Remember the Daze (alternatively: The Beautiful Ordinary ) to see.

In 2008 she starred alongside Sean Faris and Cam Gigandet in the film The Fighters and in the comedy Ananas Express . She also appeared on the series Californication (2007) and joined the ensemble of The Informers (2008) based on the novel by Bret Easton Ellis . In 2009 she starred in the thriller Stepfather and in the hit horror comedy Zombieland . In 2011 she starred alongside Nicolas Cage in the action film Drive Angry , which strengthened her image as the Scream Queen in John Carpenter's The Ward . In March 2010, the shooting of The Rum Diary began , in which Heard starred alongside Johnny Depp . The film was shown in American cinemas from October 2011.

In September 2011, Heard starred as Playboy bunny Maureen on the NBC series The Playboy Club . Due to the bad ratings, the series was canceled after three episodes broadcast. In 2013, Heard also starred in the films Paranoia - Risky Game and Machete Kills , the sequel to Machete . In 2018 she played the main female role of Princess Mera in the DC Comics film Aquaman by James Wan .

Private

At the 25th anniversary of the Gay and Lesbian Alliance Against Defamation (GLAAD; English for 'Alliance of Gays and Lesbians Against Defamation') in 2010, Heard came out as a bisexual . She lived with her partner, the photographer Tasya van Ree, in Los Angeles until the separation in June 2012 .

Heard expressed admiration for Ayn Rand and her ideas ( objectivism ) in 2014 .

In January 2014, Heard and Johnny Depp got engaged ; They married on February 4, 2015. The two met while filming The Rum Diary . On May 26, 2016, it was announced that Heard had filed for divorce.

In June 2017, Elon Musk announced that he was dating Amber Heard, and they split in August 2017.

In late 2019, private audio recordings became known from which it can be concluded that Johnny Depp was beaten by Amber Heard. In response to the release of the recordings, a petition on the Change.org website demanding that Heard be suspended from filming the film Aquaman 2 received a huge amount of attention .
