Magic Mike XXL is an American film from 2015 . Steven Soderbergh , who directed the first Magic Mike film, took over the camera and editing this time. Directed by Gregory Jacobs , one of the previous producers; Reid Carolin wrote the script .

Three years after leaving his career as a stripper, Mike runs a small cabinet maker with moderate success. Then he received a call from Tarzan, telling him that Dallas, his old boss, had left them. While Magic Mike XXL was not able to convince the critics of Rotten Tomatoes as much as its predecessor, the audience liked it slightly better and received 3.7 out of 5 stars (26,351 users, as of July 28, 2015) . A similar picture emerges with Metacritic and Moviepilot with a 60 percent approval of critics, but also with imdb.com (audience: 5.7) .
Anke Sterneborg from epd Film criticizes the work of Gregory Jacobs: Sure, this sequel was a risky affair from the start, it would have needed someone with a good portion of irreverent cheek, real bite and style. Instead, 'Magic Mike XXL' has just become a bland number revue, a road trip with stops in a gay club, a stripper bar and a house full of desperate housewives, including Andie MacDowell with a southern accent.
Focus Online notes that some scenes are unexpectedly comical and funny, for example when Richie tries to make the gas station employee smile with a spontaneous strip act, Mikedoesa suggestive dance in his workshop or there is a very serious discussion about the Backstreet Boys . Tatum's obvious joy in dancing is another big plus point of the film. In conclusion, it says: Magic Mike XXL is designed as a purely women's film.
