Gabriel Iglesias
Gabriel Jesus Iglesias (born July 15, 1976 in San Diego , California ) is an American comedian and actor .
Life
Gabriel J. Iglecias grew up in California, the youngest of six children of a single Mexican mother. Since his father left the family to move back to Mexico, his mother named him not according to the family name Iglesias with an "s", but Iglecias with a "c". Until 1997 he worked for a cell phone company in California. He quit the job, contrary to his family's advice, to focus on a career as a comedian. Despite initial difficulties, such as losing his apartment and his car, he managed to establish himself as a comedian.
Since the early 2000s, Iglesias has been increasingly booked for television shows such as The Tonight Show with Jay Leno , The Late Late Show with Craig Ferguson and Comedy Central Presents . As an actor, he found himself in particular through typecasting as a supporting actor for Latin American characters in television series and films such as What's Up, Dad? , Magic Mike and Manolo and the book of life work. Iglesias has had a longstanding collaboration with the television station Comedy Central in particular . Since 2011 he has hosted his own comedy show Gabriel Iglesias Presents Stand Up Revolution , in which he gives young comedians the opportunity to present themselves to a nationwide audience.
Iglesias lives in Whittier , California with his partner and their son, both of whom are occasionally part of his live programs . Another component of his shows is his own corpulence, which he makes fun of and calls himself "fluffy" (translation: fluffy ). Weighing 445 pounds, he was diagnosed with Type II diabetes and a life expectancy of 2 years or less. With a strict diet and yoga, Iglesias lost almost 50 kg in weight by 2014.
