action

Smurfette is desperate about her life as a Smurf, she has no job and her name has no meaning. Hefty, Schlaubi and Clumsy play with her in the woods to distract her. Smurfette sees an eye area that appears to her like another, unknown Smurf. She runs after the creature that loses a cap on the run. It is very similar to the hat she wears herself, only instead of white it is slightly looser. Shortly afterwards, Smurfette is captured by Gargamel's eagle Monty and brought to Gargamel. Your companions set out to free them. Gargamel finds the other hat and casts a spell to find out that the wearer comes from the “forbidden forest”. The Smurfs manage to free Smurfette, and they can save themselves from Azrael and the eagle.

But Papa Smurf awaits them in the village, who is very angry that his little Smurfs have put themselves in such danger. He scolds them and punishes them with "mushroom arrest". Smurfette is remorseful, but barely has nightfall when she wants to warn the "other Smurfs" in the forbidden forest. So she is on her way. When she got to the border wall, she noticed Hefty, Schlaubi and Clumsy, who followed her. Together they set off. But Gargamel is also on the road with his companions.

The four Smurfs are harassed by magical creatures and discover Gargamel a little later. When they are floating in a river, Gargamel goes under and they have to save him because he cannot swim. He thanks, but then pushes her down a waterfall. A little later they are locked in a wooden cage. With astonishment they realize that they have met the "other Smurfs". There are all “Smurf girls” and each has a name from nature. Some wear dresses and hats made of leaves, others light yellow hats and dresses. They have purple hair, of varying lengths.

Smurfette is released, appraised and welcomed, and she sees the Smurf Lily again, which she first saw in her forest. Smurfette is over the moon and keeps talking to her. Smurfette tells her about Gargamel. They bring the Smurfs to their village, where many Smurf girls live. Then comes Schlumpfhilde, she wears a red cap and matching shoes, plus a light yellow dress. Like Papa Smurf, she has white hair that is tied in a bun at the nape of the neck.

It turns out that the Smurfs and Gargamel misinterpreted the map, it's not trees as they believed, it's waterfalls. The girls say if he follows the path he'll never get out. Gargamel meanwhile hangs from a tree, below him a water with fish that attack him, he desperately calls for the Smurfs. Hilde sends Sturmi out to look for Gargamel, she takes Clumsy of all people with her, they fly on a fire eater while the others celebrate a party.

The eagle Monty can save himself, Gargamel and Azrael. Sturmi and Clumsy meet Monty, whom they can fend off with the help of the firebird. Hefty and Schlaubi want to go home, but Smurfette feels at home in the village. Clumsy takes an answer from her when he arrives. Sturmi explains that she learned from Clumsy that Smurfette was not a real Smurf and was created by Gargamel, she blames the other Smurfs for leading Gargamel directly into "their village". Hilde puts the security of the village in the foreground and orders security. Then Papa Smurf falls into their hands. While they are still talking back and forth and discussing the two heads, Gargamel suddenly appears and freezes both of them, as well as everyone else, except for Smurfette. Gargamel says that Smurfette was always meant to lead him to all of the Smurfs. He wants to freeze her, but it doesn't work, so he just leaves her behind. Only Schlaubis cockchafer Snappy, who works like a cell phone, is still with her. He tries to cheer her up and all the animals that are friends of the Smurf girls come to her.

Gargamel has withdrawn into his house and is preparing everything to kill the Smurfs. Brainy can free himself and some of the other Smurfs, Hilde and Papa Smurf are in a different cage, and they are discovered when they try to free them. All except Hefty and Schlaubi are thrown into a rotating glass vessel and Gargamel gets special powers and changes his appearance through this, and with other ingredients. Here comes Smurfette, she says that she is here to swear allegiance to "her father Gargamel". Gargamel demands something from her, she offers him the other Smurfs, she says she shows him the way to her village when Gargamel transforms Smurfette into her evil self. Gargamel sends out a green beam to transform her, but Smurfette counters with a blue that reaches Gargamel and transforms it back. The blue beam sends Gargamel and his companions back into the forbidden forest to the dangerous river in which they are attacked by fish.

The other Smurfs are freed, but they discover that the Smurfette has turned into a blue lump. They bring him home to their village, accompanied by the Smurf girls and Hilde. They put the lump on flowers and make several circles around it, they hold hands and some begin to cry. Suddenly a bright blue light appears, it transforms Smurfette back. All Smurfs have a big festival.

criticism

A film that happily returned to its roots. No vulgar humor, almost no postmodern meta-jokes, relatively little kitsch and no compulsive modernization: the undeniable feminist substructure is certainly due to the zeitgeist. The lost village takes the Smurfs seriously and brings you back close to the fairytale magic of Peyo's world with impressive, brightly colored, very detailed images. "
