Gordon James Ramsay , OBE (born November 8, 1966 in Johnstone , Scotland ) is a British chef , restaurateur , television chef and cookbook writer . The Gordon Ramsay Group operates 35 restaurants worldwide, including 15 in London. Four of the restaurants operated have been awarded stars by the Michelin Guide (as of 2019), Gordon Ramsay with three, Le Pressoir d'Argent with two and the Pétrus and Gordon Ramsay au Trianon with one each.

Career

Ramsay grew up in Stratford-upon-Avon , England , and initially wanted to be a professional footballer. An injury ended his career and he took a hotel management course in college.

In Germany, Ramsay became known through his program Gordon Ramsay: Chef ohne Gnade (original title: Ramsay's Kitchen Nightmares , Channel 4 ), which was broadcast on Sundays on DMAX , and through the program In Teufels Küche (original title: Kitchen Nightmares , FOX ), which was broadcast on RTL II was broadcast from April to August 2008. This is the same broadcast concept that he produces in the UK for Channel 4 and in the USA for FOX. In these programs he tries to help ailing restaurant owners get back on their feet. He has been running a YouTube channel since 2006, on which he regularly uploads videos on all aspects of cooking. The channel has over 14 million subscribers (May 2020).

Typical of him is his vulgarity , especially the frequent use of the English word " fuck ".

Gordon Ramsay has been married to Tana Ramsay since 1996 and has five children.
