Jake Mark Johnson (born May 28, 1978 in Evanston , Illinois ) is an American actor who became famous for the sitcom New Girl .

Career

Between 2006 and 2010, Johnson starred in several film and television roles. Among other things with Lass it, Larry! , Lie to Me or FlashForward . In 2011 he starred in the romantic comedy Friendship Plus, alongside Natalie Portman and Ashton Kutcher . Between 2011 and 2018 he played a starring role in the Fox - comedy series New Girl , one of eight winners in the category most exciting new series at the Critics' Choice Television Awards , was chosen by journalists who had seen the pilot episode. Since 2019 he has played a leading role alongside Cobie Smulders in the ABC series Stumptown .

Private life

Johnson was born in Evanston, Illinois, a northern suburb of Chicago. Johnson likes basketball and tennis, and is a member of both the Sunday Men's Basketball League and the Interstate 5 Tennis Association .

He is married to the artist Erin Payne .
