Ceremony is the fifth studio album by the rock band The Cult , released on September 10, 1991. The album was very well received by music critics and fans. It followed earlier worldwide hits with the 1987 album Electric and the 1989 record Sonic Temple . It was heavily inspired by Native American culture.

Background information

The album was released later in some countries (South Korea and Thailand, where the album was released in 1992). In Turkey, the album was only released in June 1993 after the band had made a few gigs in Istanbul.

The relationship between Ian Astbury and Billy Duffy was at a low point at the time the record was recorded, so they rarely recorded together in the studio. Astbury and Duffy worked with Todd Hoffman and James Kottak on the demo recordings . The actual recordings for the record were made with Mickey Curry on drums and Charley Drayton on bass.
