Beggars Banquet Records

Beggars Banquet is a British record label . It started out as a chain of record stores owned by Martin Mills and Nick Austin. In 1977, inspired by the DIY mentality of British punk , the independent label was founded. The first band on the label was the British punk band The Lurkers with their classic "Shadow / Love Story". Successful sales of Tubeway Army and Gary Numan records ensured the financial survival of the label. Artists like The Charlatans , Pixies , Cocteau Twins , M / A / R / R / S and Robert Forster were released on two sub-labels, Situation Two and 4AD Records . On another sub-label, XL Recordings , successful dance bands such as The Prodigy and the Basement Jaxx were released .

Mantra Records , Mo'Wax Records , Locked On Records , Too Pure , Matador Records and Wiiija Records also belong to the Beggars Group, which in Germany of Indigo sold is.

In April 2008, the Beggars Group announced that Baggers Banquet will be merged into 4AD as part of a restructuring process, as will Too Pure.
