Ian Robert Astbury , actually: Ian Robert Lindsay (born May 14, 1962 in Heswall , Cheshire ), is a British rock singer.

Astbury's career began in the early 1980s with The Southern Death Cult . The band transformed personally and in their musical style into the band Death Cult and later into The Cult , which became one of the most successful British hard rock bands of the late 1980s and early 1990s . In 1996 Astbury founded the band Holy Barbarians , which released an album (Cream) , but was not particularly successful and later broke up. Astbury was a singer on UNKLE's 2007 album War Stories .

Together with Ray Manzarek and Robby Krieger , Astbury founded the Doors revival band "The Doors of the 21st Century". The band was renamed " Riders on the Storm " in a legal battle with John Densmore in 2005 .

Astbury sang the song Ghost on the solo album by former Guns N 'Roses guitarist Slash , released on March 31, 2010 . In September 2010 he released the EP BXI , recorded with the Japanese band Boris , with the titles Teeth And Claws , We Are Witches , Rain and Magickal Child .
