Heswall is a town on the Wirral Peninsula in Merseyside, southwest of Birkenhead . It belongs to the Metropolitan Borough of Wirral and is located at the mouth of the River Dee . Until the local government reform in 1972 , Heswall was part of Cheshire County .

In 2011, Heswall had 13,401 inhabitants.
