Riders on the Storm (also known as Manzarek Warriors or The Doors Of The 21st Century ) was an American rock band . The group was named after the former members of The Doors , Ray Manzarek and Robby Krieger, after a song by the group.

history

After the Doors singer Jim Morrison died in 1971, the remaining members of the group Robby Krieger , John Densmore and Ray Manzarek recorded two more albums ( Other Voices and Full Circle ) under the name "The Doors". Since it was not successful, it was decided in 1973 to disband the group.

The ways of the remaining members parted. They met again on September 26, 2000 for a reunion concert, at which the Doors reinterpreted the old Doors songs with other well-known singers such as Perry Farrell , Scott Weiland , Scott Stapp , Travis Meeks and Ian Astbury .

After that it was quiet again for the band - until 2002, when it was decided to go on a US tour with Ian Astbury, singer of the band The Cult , in the role of Morrison. Due to a legal dispute with the former Doors drummer John Densmore, who was replaced by Ty Dennis, and the parents of Jim Morrison, the group was called The Doors Of The 21st Century (or D21C for short ) from now on . During this tour the DVD LA Woman Live was recorded, which was released in Germany in 2003. On the tour, as on the world tour that followed in 2004, the band played differently than before with their own bassist, Angelo Barbera, who has since been replaced by Phil Chen.

In 2005 a new lawsuit followed, which ended on July 22nd with the fact that the band was not allowed to appear under the name "The Doors" or under the well-known logo. The court also ordered that all profits generated as the D21C be surrendered to the former The Doors partnership. Since the court ruling, the band has been called Riders on the Storm (after a song by the Doors from the LA Woman album ). In 2005 the group went on a US tour again, which was followed by a mini world tour in 2006, during which the band also gave two concerts in Germany.

In March 2007 Ian Astbury got out. Then Brett Scallions was hired as a singer, who was a singer in the group " Fuel ". After the collaboration with him ended, Manzarek-Krieger toured occasionally under their surnames or as Ray Manzarek and Robby Krieger of The Doors since 2009 .

On the occasion of the 40th anniversary of Jim Morrison's death, Manzarek warriors went on a European tour, which they began on July 3, 2011 in Paris with a concert in the Bataclan . They hired Dave Brock (Wild Child) as singer. Ray Manzarek died on May 20, 2013 in Rosenheim (Germany).
