LA Woman is the Doors' sixth album and the last with Jim Morrison before his death in July 1971.

background

LA Woman is considered to be the band's most blues- influenced album. After the departure of their producer Paul A. Rothchild in November 1970, the Doors began recording with the sound engineer Bruce Botnick at "The Doors Workshop" in Los Angeles. Most of the pieces were recorded directly, only a few passages by Ray Manzarek and the studio musicians Jerry Scheff and Mark Benno were recorded afterwards. It is the only album of the Doors' Morrison era that was not followed by a tour. Jim Morrison went to Paris after the recordings, where he died a few months later.

A new version of the album was released in March 2007. It contains two bonus tracks: Orange County Suite and that of Willie Dixon wrote (You Need Meat) Do not Go No Further , already on the classic 1972 Compilation Weird Scenes Inside The Gold Mine was.

In 2003, the American music magazine Rolling Stone published a list of the 500 Greatest Albums of All Time , in which LA Woman was voted number 362.

In the title track LA Woman , Jim Morrison sings towards the end of the song: Mr. Mojo risin ' (= "Mr. Mojo gets up"). This is an anagram of his own first and last name.
