Waiting for the Sun is the third album by the American rock band The Doors . It was released in July 1968 and was the band's first and only number one album in the United States . The single of the same name, heavily peppered with blues-rock elements, was only released in 1970 on the studio album Morrison Hotel .
history
The expectations after the album Strange Days were very high, so that Waiting for the Sun was initially described by some as a disappointment. The song material was also softer and contained ballads like Love Street , Wintertime Love , Summer's Almost Gone and Yes, the River Knows . A flamenco guitar was used at Spanish Caravan . The album was also successful in the UK for the first time , where it reached number 16.
criticism
The Allmusic site gave the album 3.5 out of 5 stars and called it "quite enjoyable and diverse, just not as powerful a full-length statement as the group's best albums."
