Bieuzy (formerly Bieuzy-des-Eaux ; Breton : Bizhui-on Dour ) is a commune Déléguée in the French community Pluméliau Bieuzy- with 774 inhabitants (at January 1, 2017) in the department of Morbihan in the region of Brittany .

geography

Bieuzy is located in the southern part of central Brittany and belongs to the Pays de Pontivy.

Neighboring communities were Guern in the north, Le Sourn in the northeast, Pluméliau in the east and southeast and Melrand in the southwest and west.

The D1 runs through the Commune déléguée from Guémené-sur-Scorff to Locminé . The river Blavet formed the border with the municipality of Pluméliau.

history

Historically, the municipality belongs to the Breton region of Bro-Gwened (French: Vannetais) and within this region to the Bro Baod (French: Pays de Baud) area and shares its history. From 1793 to 1801 Bieuzy belonged to the canton of Melrand. From 1801 until its dissolution in 2019, the municipality was assigned to the canton of Baud . In 1869 the municipal area was reduced by the formation of the municipality of Le Sourn .

On January 1, 2019, the municipalities of Pluméliau and Bieuzy merged to form the Commune nouvelle Pluméliau-Bieuzy. Since then it has had the status of a Commune déléguée.
