Commune déléguée is the status of a former French municipality that was merged with other such municipalities to form a Commune nouvelle . The legal basis for this procedure is the law article 2010-1563, paragraph 21, of December 16, 2010. This allows parish mergers by decree , usually with effect from January 1 of each year.
