Pluméliau ( Breton : Pluniav ) is part of the municipality Pluméliau Bieuzy- a former French commune with last 3,624 inhabitants (at January 1, 2016) in the department of Morbihan in the region of Brittany .

Pluméliau is located in the southern part of central Brittany and belongs to the Pays de Pontivy.
Neighboring places are Bieuzy in the northwest, Le Sourn in the north, Saint-Thuriau in the northeast, Moustoir-Remungol in the east, Évellys with Remungol in the southeast, Guénin and Saint-Barthélemy in the south and Melrand in the southwest.
In north-south direction the D 768 runs through the municipality, the connection from Pontivy to Auray .
history
The municipality historically belonged to the Breton region Bro-Gwened (French. Vannetais) and within this region to the area Bro Baod (French. Pays de Baud) and shares its history. During the French Revolution, it was an independent canton until 1801. From 1801 until its dissolution in 2019, it formed a municipality within the canton of Baud . On July 29, 1944, nine members of the Resistance were shot dead in Pluméliau.
On January 1, 2019, the municipalities of Pluméliau and Bieuzy merged to form the new municipality of Pluméliau-Bieuzy .
