Moustoir-Remungol ( Breton : Moustoer-Remengol ) is a village and a former French commune of 700 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2017) in the department of Morbihan in the region of Brittany . It belonged to the arrondissement of Pontivy and the canton of Locminé .

With effect from January 1, 2016, Moustoir-Remungol was merged with the former municipalities of Naizin and Remungol to form a commune nouvelle called Évellys and has the status of a commune déléguée in the new municipality . The administrative center of the municipality is located in Naizin.

geography

Moustoir-Remungol is located in the southern part of central Brittany and belongs to the Pays de Pontivy. The next connection to the national road connection N 24 is around ten kilometers south of the village. The main bodies of water are the Coëthuan and Kergouët streams . There are also some small ponds. Only small areas in the area are forested. Neighboring towns are Noyal-Pontivy in the north, Naizin in the east, Remungol in the south, Pluméliau-Bieuzy with Pluméliau in the west and Saint-Thuriau in the north-west.

history

The name Moustoir means monastery. However, there is no written evidence of this monastery. The municipality belonged to the canton of Pluméliau from 1793 to 1801. Then she was assigned to the canton of Locminé. The municipality historically belonged to the Breton region Bro-Gwened (French. Vannetais) and within this region to the area Bro Baod (French. Pays de Baud) and shares its history.
