Noyal-Pontivy ( in Breton : Noal-Pondi ) is a French municipality with 3639 inhabitants (at January 1, 2017) in the department of Morbihan in the region of Brittany . It belongs to the community association Pontivy Communauté .

Noyal-Pontivy is located in the north of the Morbihan department and belongs to the Pays de Pontivy.

Due to its proximity to the city of Pontivy, the place is close to roads for national traffic. The D2 runs through the village from Rohan to Pontivy. The most important road connection is the D700 / D768 (formerly Route nationale 168 ), which passes seven kilometers west of the municipality.
The most important bodies of water are the Canal de Nantes à Brest , the Belle Chère river and the Saint-Niel , Mengoët and Guern stream . In some parts these also form the municipal boundary.

history
Historically, the municipality belongs to the Breton region of Bro Gwened (French: Vannetais) and within this region to the Bro Pondi (French: Pays de Pontivy) area and shares its history. From 1793 until its dissolution in 1801, it was the capital of the canton of Noyal. Since then, the place has been assigned to the canton of Pontivy. In its current size, Noyal-Pontivy was created in 1839 by dividing the former municipality of Noyal-Pontivy into the five municipalities of Noyal-Pontivy, Gueltas, Kerfourn, Saint-Gérand and Saint-Thuriau.
