Priziac ( Breton : Prizieg ) is a French municipality with 976 inhabitants (at January 1, 2017) in the department of Morbihan in the region of Brittany . It belongs to the community association Roi Morvan Communauté .
geography
Priziac is located in the northwest of the Morbihan department and belongs to the Pays du Roi Morvan.
Neighboring municipalities are Plouray in the northeast, Saint-Tugdual and Le Croisty in the east, Saint-Caradec-Trégomel in the southeast, Berné and Meslan in the south, Querrien in the southwest, Le Faouët in the southwest and Langonnet in the northwest.
The place itself is a bit away from important thoroughfares. Seven kilometers west of Priziac, the D769 runs from Saint-Pol-de-Léon to Lorient . Important national road connections such as the N164 and N165 are far away.
The most important bodies of water are the Ellé and Aër rivers and the Kerguerizen , Corrogant and Kervazo streams . In some cases, these also form the municipal boundary. Lake Lac du Bel Air is just west of the town of Priziac . There are also several ponds in the municipality.

history
Historically, the municipality belongs to the Breton region of Bro Gwened (French: Vannetais) and within this region to the Bro Bourlet (French: Pays Pourlet) area and shares its history. From 1793 until its dissolution in 1801, Priziac was the capital of its own canton. Since then the municipality has been assigned to the canton of Le Faouët.
