Plouray ( Breton : Plourae ) is a French municipality with 1121 inhabitants (at January 1, 2017) in the department of Morbihan in the region of Brittany . It belongs to the community association Roi Morvan Communauté .
geography
Plouray is located in the north-west of the Morbihan department on the border with the Côtes-d'Armor department and belongs to the Pays du Roi Morvan.
Neighboring municipalities are the municipalities of Glomel in the north and Mellionnec in the northeast, Ploërdut in the southeast, Saint-Tugdual in the south, Priziac in the southwest and Langonnet in the west in the Côtes-d'Armor department .
The place itself is at the intersection of the D1 from Gourin to Guémené-sur-Scorff and the D790 from Le Faouët to Rostrenen . The main road link is the N164 further north.
The most important bodies of water are the river Ellé and the stream Stanven . The Ellé also partially forms the western municipal boundary. There are also several ponds of different sizes in the municipality.

history
The municipality historically belongs to the Breton region Bro-Gwened (French. Vannetais) and within this region to the area Bro Bourlet (French. Pays Pourlet) and shares its history. From 1793 until its dissolution in 1801, Plouray belonged to the canton of Langonnet. Since then, the municipality has been assigned to the canton of Gourin.
