Langoëlan ( Breton : Lanwelan ) is a French municipality with 380 inhabitants (at January 1, 2017) in the department of Morbihan in the region of Brittany . It belongs to the community association Roi Morvan Communauté .

geography

Langoëlan is located in the northwest of the Morbihan department on the border with the Côtes-d'Armor department and belongs to the Pays du Roi Morvan.

Neighboring municipalities are the municipalities of Mellionnec and Lescouët-Gouarec in the north, Silfiac and Séglien in the east, Locmalo in the south and Ploërdut in the west, in the Côtes-d'Armor department .

The place itself is a bit away from important thoroughfares. The D3 / D23 from Baud to Rostrenen runs through the village itself . The most important national road connection N164 can be reached around 16 kilometers away in Rostrenen.

The most important bodies of water are the Scorff River and the Le Maçon en Dour , Guernarpin , Moulin du Pont Houarn , Lanhouellic and Kerlann streams . In some cases, these also form the municipal boundary. The lake / pond Étang du Dordu is just east of the village of Langoëlan . There are also several ponds in the municipality. The Bois de Coët-Codu forest area is located in the northwest of the municipality .

history

Historically, the municipality belongs to the Breton region of Bro Gwened (French: Vannetais) and within this region to the Bro Bourlet (French: Pays Pourlet) area and shares its history. Langoëlan was assigned to the canton of Ploërdut from 1793 until its dissolution in 1801. Since then, the municipality has belonged to the canton of Guémené-sur-Scorff.
